Here's To The One's That Start

Here’s to the people who are starting.
The ones who are willing to try something new.
Here’s to the people going into the unknown.
Experiencing things they never had before.
Never knowing what to expect.
Who still aren’t sure of the right moves.

Here’s to the ones who watched the films.
The ones who follow the adventurers on social media,
And are constantly inspired by others.

The ones who show up at the crag, mountain, lake
Or anywhere else new.
The ones who are willing to try.
To see if they find their new passion
Or find out it wasn’t for them.

The ones who are pushing themselves to their limits
The limits they didn’t even know they had.

Here’s to the ones who show up with legs shaking.
The ones who are terrified, but are here anyway.
The ones who have anxiety attacks while trying.
Here’s to the ones that show up feeling confident,
Who don’t think they are going to get shut down.

Here’s to the ones who fall down
But are too excited to care.
The ones who walk away with scrapes and bruises.
From not knowing what they are doing.
The ones who don’t know their own strength
And don’t think they can do it but start anyway.

Here’s to the ones that seek out the professionals
The ones who are willing to ask questions
The ones who are dying to learn
The ones who are willing to look like a fool.

Here’s to the ones who realize everyone has to start somewhere
Here’s to the ones who start a little bit later in life
And the ones who begin early
The ones who are willing to be a beginner again.
The ones whose friends dragged them here
Or the ones that are trying to meet someone new
The ones who have never done something like this before
Who may be terrified of everything that can go wrong.
The ones who know they may not keep up and they may fail
The ones who know they aren’t going to be as good as others
But knowing that it doesn’t really matter.
The ones who are intimidated by others
Who believe they can never measure up, but are here.
The ones who heard the doubters who said they couldn’t do it
But started anyway.

The ones who show up with an oversized bag
And shoes that don’t fit.
Who doesn’t have all the gear just yet.
Who haven’t tried the techniques.

Here’s to the ones who don’t know how to start
But start anyway.

Here’s to the ones that just start.
Because starting is the hardest part.
