South Korea's Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha met with her Japanese counterpart Toshimitsu Motegi on Saturday on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
It's expected she delivered Seoul's stance that GSOMIA can be terminated whenever Seoul wants, unless the exports situation recovers to where it was before in July last year.
Tokyo has restricted exports to South Korea in retaliation for the South Korean Supreme Court's ruling in 2018 --that ordered Japanese firms to compensate the Korean victims of Japan's forced wartime labor.
Seoul is also seen to have urged Tokyo to share information transparently on its plans to release Fukushima radioactive waste into the sea.
Meanwhile, the South Korean and Japanese Foreign Ministers also sat down for a trilateral meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to discuss North Korea policy.
