This is from a televised preview of ArtPrize 8 finalists from 2016. I have selected a sculptural installation that the high art critics loved and my installation that they panned for two reasons: 1. They were too intelligent to read my artist statement and to understand allegory for the human soldier 2. They were anti-patriots who thought the art was too much about America. While I think the moderator knew, little did these elitists know (in the national environment of a populist and patriotic uprising of 2016) that the Wounded Warrior Dogs would go on to win the grand prize by popular vote in Grand Rapids and then go on to be exhibited by popular demand and breaking attendance records at national military and civic museums all across America. Little did they know the healing and catharsis that has been provided fro thousands of surviving veterans and their families. I will never have an apology from them.
