PM Boris Johnson lays out flood-defence action plan in worst hit UK regions It was the PM’s first visit to anywhere affected by floods since the extreme weather began battering Britain last month.

Boris Johnson got a mixed reception in Bewdley in the Severn Valley. Despite getting called a 'traitor' by a heckler for not arriving earlier, some clapped and cheered when they saw the PM, one resident said: "We're just glad to see him eventually".

Mr Johnson said he would "get Bewdley done" as he spoke to local residents promising spending on flood defences will double to £5.2 billion across the UK.
