“Despite significant efforts to improve financial performance and considerable investment in rides and infrastructure, we have not seen improvement in operating results at Fantasy Island (New York), Indiana Beach, SpeedZone Dallas and Boomers Houston,” Apex said in an emailed statement. “These moves will allow the company to focus resources on our remaining properties thereby creating a much stronger and more vibrant company.”
The Spackman family sold the park in 2008 to Morgan RV Resorts, which ran it for seven years before selling it to privately held Apex. Founded in 2014, Apex built a national portfolio of amusement parks in partnership with private equity firms, including Chicago-based Edgewater Funds.
