The 99' boosted Civic hatch gets a new look! We decided to paint the car Kaiser Silver because 1.) We wanted something similar to the original color of the car (silver) with more character, while fixing any imperfections on the body throughout the process. The stock paint was starting to show its age and it was time for something with more character. 2.) Kaiser Silver is an OEM color for the Honda/Acura NSX (first generation), so it was a natural fit when looking for something silver with metallic in it and more depth in the paint overall.
We bought quality materials and really took our time on the prep work, shown in the video. All the hard work really paid off because now we have an awesome paint job that we did completely ourselves, not to mention it turned out way better than a Maaco job or something along those lines; for a fraction of the cost. There were a few spots that didn’t come out perfect but after a few little corrections, everything is looking great. Overall, the process was extremely fun and we all learned a lot.
Stay tuned for the built H series being dropped in our hatch soon pushing a lot more boost! It’ll have the built H23V head we have on our H23V, with the H22 bottom end we just had built. Stay tuned for future paint projects as well. We’re thinking about painting our 95’ second gen 4Runner the new military green Toyota is using on their new Runners and Tacos.
