China probes issues related to deceased doctor who warned of new virus

China probes issues related to deceased doctor who warned of new virus A 34-year-old ophthalmologist at Wuhan Central Hospital, Doctor Li Wenliang, died of the novel coronavirus infection and triggered an outpouring of grief across China. He was one of the first doctors who tried to warn fellow medical professionals about the coronavirus, but was told by local police not to spread rumors. Doctor Li tested positive for the virus on February 1. The National Supervisory Commission, China's corruption watchdog, has announced a full investigation into the circumstances before Li's death. Many people say what happened to Li exposes problems of governance in Wuhan and deserves serious reflection. The investigation by the team of the National Supervisory Commission is seen as an indication that the central government is determined to address those problems. #Coronavirus
