In September 2019, Creative Reaction Lab convened 25 Black and Latinx youth to develop interventions to address gun violence in the St. Louis region. Within Young Leaders for Civic Change: Eliminating Gun Violence, the participating young leaders educated the adults and youth in the room about the inequities in the education system, the embedded apathy towards youth gun violence, the differences in narratives between communities of color, media and educational systems and curriculum, and more. Many spaces convene adults and/or people with titles but never focus on centering youth in their power to address these issues. We’re honored that Creative Reaction Lab has been a part of the movement of building a youth-led, community-centered equity movement.
